Welcome to the Newbury School of Ki Aikido.
We have
been accepting students from a broad cross range of people to train in Aikido for over 20 years and we encourage all individuals from 16 years old with no upper age limit.
We welcome students from other associations and styles and those experienced in other martial arts but particularly look forward to seeing complete beginners to come and enjoy practising with
us.
We train at the Newbury Judo Club which has an excellent matted practice area creating a safe and comfortable training facility. You don't have to fit to start and even if you have physical problems
you can still enjoy Aikido with us.
Aikido
is a defensive martial art that is suitable for both men and woman and for all ages. The aim of Aikido is to control and subdue an attacker or multiple attackers by getting them off balance and then
using wrist locks or throws to neutralise their aggression.
The locks and throws are extremely effective but they do not rely on brute strength. This means that a smaller or lighter person who has learnt Aikido can defend themselves against a larger or bigger
attacker. It really works!
